Mostly fly fishing videos with a little fun stuff thrown in.
Three Tarpon on Two Days in July
It always looks easier on the video, but had to work and deal with scorching heat to land three fish in two days (not counting ladyfish). All of the tarpon were landed and released in less than 8 minutes according to my GoPro.

Baby Tarpon Mother Lode
Переглядів 232Місяць тому
In a spot I never fish I found a mother load of baby and medium sized tarpon feeding on probably micro baits. They were so thick, I figured a couple would find a baitfish fly among them. It was an amazing hour and a half.
Had to Work for This Baby Tarpon

Plans A, B and C weren't working so I had to change my approach. Fortunately I got one, but it wasn't a easy morning

It was a Slow Start Baby Tarpon

It was a slow start. First I had trouble finding them and then they kept missing the gurgler. Got one and on my way home I found some cooperative ones

A little Baby Tarpon action. One hit and a lot of misses.
Tarpon in Two Days in May w Capt Gregg McKee
Переглядів 1313 місяці тому
Fly fished for tarpon for two days around a full moon with Capt. Gregg McKee out of Matlacha, FL. We saw lots of tarpon, but they were tough especially in the clear water. I had a lot of refusals. Even switched from a 60 pound bite tippet to a 40 pound the second day and no love except for one in off colored water that broke off.
Tarpon Escapes Shark Attack
Переглядів 1523 місяці тому
Never had a shark attack a juvenile tarpon before in the flats. I didn't recognize it was a shark until it was over. The tarpon made a quick run after the shark missed it and escaped unharmed. I was going to break it off, but the shark seemed to have disappeared. The tarpon was still strong and shortly after the this event, it pulled out
Jungle Juvi in Slow Motion

Had to go deep in the jungle to get out of the wind. Hooked a strong Juvenile Tarpon that I couldn't stop and eventually pulled out. Always fun nonetheless

HOW NOT TO USE A GOPRO when TARPON FISHING
Great video! You earned a new sub😃
@@permitfisher thanks!
Dang…I’ve been there. Great clip tho!
Those jumps were insane
very good dan I really enjoy watching you catch tarpon. I like the cast, strip, and the take. heck, if i cant be their its the next thing is to watch you. q? do u think you can make another fly tying video of what you are using mostly this season? thx. yes i dig the snail at the end.
@@jakefinn7905 not a very complicated tie. Black emulator flash tail, body of black EP 3” foxy brush and a few turns of black or purple minnow head. Sometime I use chartreuse bead chain eyes.
Good video, bite has been on the last few days
Awesome video! Do you know what they were feeding on when they were popping on the surface?
@@ronwhetstone3144 I’m pretty sure they were feeding on small schools of really tiny fry. By tiny I mean 1/4 to 1/2” long.
Well done Dan this is definitely a great video. very cool watching a school sip on micro baits and you putting the fly in the middle of it and stripping a few times and bam! q? what make & model line are you using. thx.
Thanks! if you mean Fly line? I prefer Wulff Bermuda triangle taper, but I usually go out with three rods and I don't know what like I used this day. Could have been Rio or Orvis.
That’s it….I’m moving to Punta Gorda. Epic morning.
@@brentwilson2526 it’s not like this every morning. I’ve never seen that big a congregation
@@DanFerraris Ha! I know. I fish Charlotte Harbor a lot. Just wish I was closer.
great stuff!
Nice use of slo-mo Dan. Loved the vid!
that was a good video. enjoyed the the visual hunting. maybe if more fish were schooled up you would have got more eats. who know, thats tarpon fishing.
Awesome tarpon footage
Thanks
My buddy Dave at Burnt Store sent it to me

Interesting video thanks for sharing
Looks super fun...! Does Josh know your in his secret spot
That’s why I didn’t post it on Facebook
Wow - I'll call with Mr Double T- Tarpon tamer
That was so close! Love the scenery! Thanks.
I suppose you voted for Joe Biden, drive a prius and drink white claws
Great video...brings back lots of memories for me, too! Then, I remember a few situations when one of the 60-80 pounders decided to hit the fly about 3 feet from boat side. That's your and your guide's OMG moment, especially when other skiffs are nearby. 😀
Hey man, thanks for uploading these videos, they're fun to watch & therapeutic. You gotta sprinkle in some of these with the 10 tarpon a day videos, so we can relate. Good luck & keep them coming plz.
Thanks for the feedback. There is a lot of video that ends up in the can compared to what ends up on UA-cam 😂😂
Man what a bummer!
www.marcato.it/en/product/accessories/ravioli-stamps The round one with smooth edges is the easiest to use. Le modèle rond aux bords lisses est le plus simple à utiliser.
I’m making ravioli today for Christmas Eve. The cost to do the feast of the 7 fishes would bankrupt me, and nobody likes fish in my family anyway. I’m making cheese ravioli and ravioli dolci, with sweetened ricotta.
Awesome video 😊👍
Ancora il 'parmesan'? 🤭
Magical.....truly magical!
The recipe plz
You can use ground beef and pork plus sausage with sage, rosemary and thyme or you can make a roast of beef and pork instead. There is no recipe with amounts. It is all by eye. Roughly beef to pork to sausage 3:3:1 and roughly 3+ tablespoons of dry rosemary, thyme and sage. Often I add beef bullion for additional flavor. It is salty enough that I don't add salt. Cream cheese or Parmesan is optional as is the parsley and basil. It is important to grind or process the mixture. It needs to be fine or they will be difficult to stuff. The pasta is one egg to each cup of all purpose flour. Hope that helps

Будет вкусно!
Not over yet, small ones active in NW Cape, and some larger ones to 70 lbs up the river . Thanks for your videos, they got me through my bicep surgery this summer.
There is always a chance. I’ve jumped at least one in every month, but you can’t count on it unfortunately.
What a pleasure…sorry it’s over for a bit
nice looking red beautiful copper color.
thx dan never tire from watching. was that the black muddler style fly?
I sometimes use a fly like a black muddler. My favorite tarpon fly the last year or two I call a black mojo. It has a tail of black emulator flash, a body of black foxy brush and a black minnow head brush with chartreuse bead chain eyes.
@@DanFerraris baitfish emulator...know it well. whats size hook? standard or short shank? thx. that would make a nice easy peasy video. thinking out loud...lol....
for baby tarpon I like a Mustad alpha point tarpon streamer in size 1 or 2
You're lucky that wasn't a 120-140 pounder....lol
City boy, probably a Democrat too. Or a nonbinary liberal 🙄. Probably watches CNN all day long and drives a prius. What a jerk
Great stuff! You are living the dream.
keep up the great work i love the videos
Thanks
It never gets old watching them eat and jump... one of the most thrilling fish to take on a fly. Really enjoy your videos
Thanks!
The slow motion sound of the gill rattles is awesome!
So what exactly were you using?
A gurgler
Very good
Great videos. Is the Gunk worse this year than normal?
It all started about 3 years ago. This has been the worst by far
Flipping micro poons!
nice one. water temps are really heating up now.
Great video, thanks for sharing
Dan you are tarpon catching machine. not to mention a great job filming the experience. always enjoy your material. when fishing a gurgler do you use fluoro or mono for bite tippet?
If I rig the rod ahead I use mono, but if I switch from a baitfish pattern, I don’t bother and just leave the fluorocarbon on. I don’t think it makes much difference.
That is an amazing number of feeding tarpon. Were they feeding on baitfish or small shrimp? Looks like the gurgler mimics whatever they’re eating very well!!! Have fun………you’re definitely on the fish. Very few fish on the beach south of you…….😢
It was quite the sight and the video doesn’t do it justice. The water is very muddy and I couldn’t tell what they were eating, but at time’s recently I’ve seen some finely shrimp and pipefish. I don’t know when it started, but it was over in 20 minutes.
Times like this keep us going and going... Thanks for sharing!
another great video Dan! the gurgler was on fire. were you able to determine what they were sipping on? minnows? shrimp? thx again.
Thanks. Hard to say, but I have been seeing some really tiny shrimp, but then again, I’ve seen quite few pipe fish and small needle fish too.
thanks Dan very enjoyable to watch.
